What’s In Store For ‘First Street Fridays’ Event Launching In Downtown Duluth This Week?
Earlier this year, the City of Duluth announced something called "First Street Fridays", which will be a small series of events designed to, as the city puts it, "bring energy to 1st Street" in the downtown area of Duluth.
These events are an initiative of Duluth's Planning and Economic Development Department to activate First Street, where organizers say they are trying to build excitement and awareness in the community ahead of a lot of things expected to happen in this area of Duluth over the next few years.
There are currently two of these "First Street Fridays" events on the calendar for this summer, with the first being this Friday, June 26.

The first of these "First Street Fridays" in Duluth will be a daytime affair, happening from 10 am until 3 pm on June 26 on First Street between First Avenue East and Second Avenue East.

During this time, the street will be closed off while activities are held for the public to enjoy.
The City of Duluth's event listing for the June 26 First Street Friday says this block party-style event will include food trucks, buskers playing music, and local businesses and nonprofit organizations with activities and displays.
Some of the highlights in the listing are dance performances, fitness activities, interactive art activities, history tours, and more.
There will also be interactive and informational demonstrations from city departments like Duluth Parks and Recreation, the Duluth Public Library, and more.
The other scheduled First Street Friday is scheduled to be an evening affair, planned for Friday, July 31. This event will be on the other side of Lake Avenue, on West First Street.

Details for this second First Street Friday have not yet been revealed, but more is expected soon.
