The City of Duluth issued a boil water notice for two different Duluth neighborhoods on Friday morning.
According to city officials, a power outage on Friday morning led to a drop in water pressure in parts of the upper Woodland and Kenwood neighborhoods of Duluth, prompting the boil water notice for people in those areas, as specified in the map below.
The affected area, shown on the map above, is as follows: Woodland Avenue above E Anoka Street and Hastings Drive, to include Claymore Street up to Jean Duluth Road; and Howard Gnesen Road from Maryland Street to Norton Road, to include Norton Road, North Road, Middle Road, MacFarlane Road, Northridge Drive, Lindzie Road, and Maryland to Warren Avenue.
The boil water notice will remain in effect until further notice.
The City of Duluth is performing testing to confirm the safety of water for drinking in that area, but test results are not expected until Sunday afternoon. Until given the all-clear from city officials, all water for drinking or cooking purposes should be boiled first. This also includes water you may use for things like brushing your teeth, making ice, and other ways you could potentially consume the water.

To ensure the water is safe for consumption, water should be brought to a full, rolling boil and allowed to boil for at least one minute to kill any bacteria or other organisms before allowing it to cool for use. An alternative is bottled water, should you want to purchase some.
Tap water can still be used for things like bathing, laundry, or other non-consumption purposes during this time.

The City of Duluth says it will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
