If you're looking for something to do today, the second 'First Street Friday' event in Downtown Duluth gets going this afternoon!

Today's block party event is the second of a pair of events planned by the City of Duluth to "bring energy to First Street" in the downtown area of Duluth.

The first of these two events was at the end of June, with activities and vendors spanning across a couple of blocks east of Lake Avenue. Today's event is on the west side of Lake Avenue.

These 'First Street Fridays' are an initiative of Duluth's Economic Development Department to bring some extra activity and attention to First Street, where organizers say they are trying to build excitement and awareness in the community ahead of a lot of things expected to happen in this area of Duluth over the next few years.

Today's First Street Friday block party event starts at 3 pm, and goes until 7 pm on West First Street in the area between 1st and 2nd Avenue West

The City of Duluth says today's block party activities will include live music and performances, local food and drinks, and something organizers are calling a "Night Market" with local vendors.

Something else happening tonight will be the launch of the "Discover First Street Passport", which you can learn more about at the event.

During this block party, First Street will be blocked off in the area between 1st and 2nd Avenues West. You'll need to detour around this blocked-off area during the event if you need to pass through via vehicle.
