After being closed for a few months, a popular Duluth restaurant is getting ready to open its doors once again to customers.

The Canal Park Green Mill Restaurant & Bar on South Lake Avenue shut down at the beginning of the year, closing for a remodeling project to refresh the establishment.

The business first opened in Canal Park in 1995, and will soon be ready to welcome customers back after a brief hiatus to bring a new look to the popular Duluth bar and eatery.

After its closure on January 1, the restaurant held a fixture sale. In early January they sold chairs, tables, hightop bar tables, and other items to get ready for their restaurant-wide refresh.

The restaurant has been sharing some images through the demolition and remodeling process, showing off the stripped-down space and pieces of the fresh, new look. Highlights like new flooring and new bar space are among some of the many changes around the building.

Speaking to the renovations, Green Mill's franchisor Hightop Hospitality CEO Paul Dzubnar said “The overall goals were to give the restaurant a fresh, new look, create open sightlines and modernize the space." While there's a fresh new look and some other new things in store, not everything is changing.

Dzubnar commented, “What didn’t change is we still serve the same award-winning Green Mill pizza, pasta, beer and wings.” Speaking of beer, the ownership of the Duluth Green Mill shared that the new bar space will feature 24 taps that will include "a generous selection of domestic and craft beers".

Ownership of the Duluth Green Mill describes the look of the new location, saying "Throughout the restaurant and in the dining areas, the space has a completely new look, brought to life by way of lighter walls, ceiling, and floor colors, along with the addition of a vintage-pizza-peel art on the main wall."

New tables, chairs, and TVs along with a new look for their bathrooms and the semi-private Bulldog Room were also part of the remodel.

When they closed, the Canal Park Green Mill said they would be reopening once again in the springtime. Right on schedule, we are now just days away from their doors once again being open to the public.

The company shared in a press release that it would be reopening on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

In the lead-up to this opening, the team has been doing training and getting the kitchen tested out to be ready to welcome the public back to see all of the new things in store for customers.
