Tonight marks the opening of the Haunted Ship!  From tonight until Halloween, the William A. Irvin is transformed into one of the scariest Halloween haunts in the Twin Ports.  It's no secret that the William A. Irvin may be haunted.  What better stage for the Northland's Scariest Haunt?  Now I'm not just saying that the Irvin is haunted to scare you, the rumor has been around for years, and even investigated by the Minnesota Paranormal Study Group and Midwest Paranormal Files took a tour earlier this year:

This year's theme is "Shanghai Revenge," referring to a time from 1850′s to the 20th Century, when bars and pubs in Portland, Oregon would allegedly get men, suitable to be a sailor, drunk or drug them and once they were standing over a hidden trap door in the floor, someone would open the door and the men would fall into tunnels, known as Shanghai Tunnels. They would kidnap or “shanghai” these men and sell them as slaves to the ships waiting at the waterfront. They were then shipped off to Shanghai, China, where they were never to be heard of or seen from again.

According to the Haunted Ship,

Once aboard the Irvin you’ll experience those unlucky men’s fate of the early 20th century. So if you think you’re up for the challenge, come aboard the Irvin in October and see if you can escape the Mutiny, Murder and Mayhem of being “shanghaied” on Lake Superior.

Mix 108 will be at the Haunted Ship through the month as well.  Jeanne will be there starting at 6:30 tonight, and she says she won't hold your hand as you take your tour.

However, she does recommend bringing an extra pair of underwear.
