This year would have been the 22nd annual Lester River Rendezvous in Duluth. The event takes place every September at Lester River Park in the Lakeside neighborhood of Duluth. Organizers mentioned in a Facebook post that the Lester River Rednezvous Committee met to discuss the 2020 event. They felt that it would not be wise to hold the event because of the safety of guests and vendors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It's been rescheduled now for Saturday, September 25, 2021, with a rain date of September 26, 2021. Lester Park is loaced at 61 Ave E & Superior St. in Duluth.

The Lester River Rendezvous started back in the late 1980's as a reenactment of an 18th & 19th century fur trade in Voyager Village. It was to take place this year on September 26th. It's a big event with dozens of vendors, along with food trucks. There have been free train rides, live music, and demonstrations. Thousands of people come to the rendezvous each year.

While we are still learning how COVID-19 spreads, we do know that outdoor transmission is less likely. However, I think it's a good choice to cancel the event as many people travel from different locations every year for the Lester River Rendezvous. Here is hoping that things will be more back to normal in 2021, and we can attend this fun, educational event next year.
