Duluth's Voyageur Donuts Hosting Grand Opening Celebration June 5

Duluth's newest donut shop is getting ready to host their grand opening celebration. Delicious, right?!

Voyageur Donuts in Duluth's Canal Park is preparing to celebrate, get this, on National Donut Day. How appropriate!

If you're thinking, "Hey, wait, didn't they open last fall?" You're not wrong.

After excited fans (like me) waited many months for the donut shop to open last year in Canal Park, it officially opened to customers at the end of October 2025. The business fired up a social media presence in late 2024 and started teasing that they'd be setting up shop in the old Northern Waters Smokehaus location in the DeWitt–Seitz Marketplace.

The wait was definitely worth it, getting to try out their inventive and creative donuts and delicious coffee offerings when they finally opened last fall.

Speaking of those inventive donuts, they have a line of signature donuts that include a pink-frosted animal cracker donut, a monster donut (glazed with chocolate and topped with peanuts and salt), a strawberry shortcake donut, a lemon & lavender donut, and the ultimate Minnesota donut: Hot dish.

Yes, a hot dish donut. It is a potato and cheese donut, topped with cream cheese, bacon crumbles, chives, and sour cream & onion potato chips. How is it? Here's my review.

They also have more traditional donut varieties (they call "staples"), ever-changing seasonal donuts, and a variety of coffee beverages - because what better pairing is there than donuts and coffee?

So, the grand opening for Voyageur Donuts, as I mentioned, is on National Donut Day. That's this Friday, June 5. While details on what to expect for the grand opening are being kept hush-hush as of right now, they say, "The donuts and coffee will be plentiful!"

While they have been open for several months now, it only makes sense they would wait for a true grand opening celebration for a day with warmer weather and, of course, a national holiday dedicated to their main menu items.

Voyageur Donuts' hours are 7 am to 5 pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and 7 am to 6 pm Fridays and Saturdays. They are closed on Sundays. You can place your orders on the deck on the northern side of the DeWitt–Seitz building in Duluth's Canal Park.
