Golfweek has put out its list of Best Private Courses for 2023 and a Duluth course was named one of the best in Minnesota.

The rankings were voted on by Golfweek's "international panel of raters" on a scale of 1 to 10 with the average score determining the rankings per state. None of the courses on the list don’t accept daily fees or resort play.

Northland Country Club ranks number 8 on the Golfweek list, the Duluth course was built in 1899, and the course was then redone in 1927 by one of the best golf course designers of all time, Donald Ross.

If you want to play any of these courses, you'll need to shell out some serious dollars, according to Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, the average one-time initiation fee to join a Twin Cities-area country club is $35,000.

According to a 2018 price list, Northland Country Club has an initiation fee of $5,000 with $5400 in annual dues and a variety of other fees, I'm sure that the price is significantly higher now, after the pandemic prices for many private courses have risen dramatically. Northland Country Club also offers tennis and pool memberships for individuals and families.

Many Northland golfers have been enjoying some extra time on area courses due to the unseasonably warm weather this week.
