Half Marathon Training Tips [VIDEOS]
We're just over 7 weeks away from Grandma's Marathon weekend! Whether you're running the William A. Irvin 5k, the Garry Bjorklund Half-Marathon, or Grandma's Full Marathon, chances are you're training or thinking about training. I started my training at the beginning of March and am following the Half-Marathon "Novice" training schedule. The schedule calls for running 6 days a week. I would love to tell you that I'm sticking to that schedule, but I'm not. But I am getting in at least 4 days a week, sometimes 5.
There are so many different ways to train. I'm no expert, but if there's one tip I can offer it's that you should find a running buddy. I have mine at work (speaking of...I think it's past our scheduled time for that run!) and he's a great help to be held accountable for our runs and to stay motivated to get to the gym.
Ok, one more tip for the ladies. Get a good fantastic sports bra. Or two.
I found a few instructional videos you may want to check out if you've signed up for the half. (And you'll learn a great trick you can use for the dreaded Lemondrop Hill!!)
Good Luck runners, I'll see you on June 16th!
