We have noticed a cluster of big deer flies lately and it has been making sitting out on our deck a miserable experience, but after seeing the radar in LaCrosse Wisconsin, I need to hush my complaints.

This radar from the National Weather Service in LaCrosse is not a storm it is bugs, Mayflys to be exact, that have hatched along the Mississippi River. Can you imagine the volume of bugs in this type of swarm?

Here in the Northland we have had to contend with army worms which are absolutely disgusting, and I know in years past people have actually had to shovel them off their driveways. I guess that is the one positive of living in an area where we have a change of seasons and it gets bitter cold, we don't have to deal with bugs for a good chunk of the year.
