Gene McMullen of Illinois sure knows how to grow big pumpkins, but this years winner was a whopper and the biggest recorded in the U.S.

McMullen traveled to the Cedarburg Wine and Harvest Festival, which is located just outside of Milwaukee  and took the grand prize with his pumpkin weighing in at a whopping 2,145 pounds. He also won last year with a winning gord of 1,600 pounds.

According to the festival it is the largest pumpkin grown outside a greenhouse and second largest in the world! That is some serious dedication to the cause, and the best part is that he says it is pure luck that he can grow them this big.
