Brainerd, MN (MinnesotaNow) - The State Patrol responded to a fatal traffic crash Friday evening in north-central Minnesota.

The preliminary report on the crash indicates that it occurred around 6:50 p.m. on Highway 18, about two miles east of Brainerd. The State Patrol says the victim was driving a small car west on the highway when the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree.

The name of the victim has not been released, but the State Patrol has indicated he was a 56-year-old man from Brainerd.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, the Brainerd Fire Department, North Memorial Ambulance, and personnel from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources assisted the State Patrol at the crash site.
