Popular Northland Chinese Restaurant Closing After 38 Years
The restaurant first opened its doors in 1986. Now 38 years later, the owner says they are hanging up their woks for good.
Hong Kong Restaurant Announces Last Day
Hong Kong Restaurant was the first Chinese place in Cloquet when it opened on the West end of Cloquet. It was so popular that they outgrew the location and moved to a new location on Highway 33 in 1997. They've been at 616 Sunnyside, Dr since 1997.

According to their website, Wing Lau did most of the work on the building with some help from friends and family. The decor and intricate carvings were actually brought from China.
They shared the news that they would be closing on November 24th after 38 years in business.
Many customers and past employees shared well wishes, along with their disappointment in hearing the news. Loyal customers say they will have to visit for a few final meals, as they still have over a month before it closes.
What's left for Chinese food in Cloquet?
When Hong Kong Restaurant closes it will leave only one Chinese restaurant in Cloquet: The Panda Buffet which is located at 1310 Cloquet Avenue.
