DECC Has Vision For New Outdoor Venue + Wants Bayfront Back
The Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (DECC) wants to once again manage Bayfront Festival Park. Last year it was privately managed, and according to the director, lessons were learned. For next summer they are working on some bigger plans which include a new outdoor space.
DECC doesn't make much managing Bayfront, but it's "for the greater good."
The DECC is a public entity that was created to help drive tourism and business in Duluth. According to Director Dan Hartman, there's a benefit of having a public entity put the good of the community first over profits.

Big Changes - New Venue Next To William A. Irvin
According to their social media post, they are planning to build a new outdoor venue Between Pioneer Hall and William A. Irvin. So far, they plan to call it Portside Park. They plan to have it set up so the band would play near the Minnesota Slip Bridge. Behind them would be the Aerial Lift Bridge, and to their left would be the Irvin, and on the right would be Pioneer Hall. There's even talk about having a VIP section on the Irvin for concerts.
Coordination of acts
The DECC says they've been lucky not to have two similar acts booked on the same day between Bayfront Festival Park and the DECC venues. They operate venues including AMSOIL Arena, DECC Arena, Symphony Hall, and Pioneer Hall. It's important to outside promoters who bring shows in to have faith that Duluth knows basic entertainment knowledge, such as not booking two country acts on the same night in the same town.
DECC's Resources Are Being Used Anyway
Promoters at Bayfront Festival Park needed help from the DECC anyway, like using their lifts or fencing.
