Everyone is guilty of having a little bit of a lead foot, right? Well, this recorded speeding ticket would take a lot more than a lead foot, you'd need the right vehicle to hit the speeds as well. Wisconsin's fastest-recorded speeding ticket actually happened just this year.

Remember during COVID-19 when people were going crazy and driving at extreme speeds? It got so bad that extra law enforcement had to run campaigns to catch speeding drivers.

The motorcycle was speeding along I-39/90 and cutting in and out of traffic. The pilot of the helicopter followed the motorcycle and provided updates to ground units who then pulled the motorcycle over. The driver was cited for reckless driving, speeding, and failure to display a registration plate.

How do they calculate your speed from a helicopter?

By using a stopwatch, they can track how long it takes for a driver to go from point to point. With already knowing this distance, they can compute how fast you are going. Helicopters are useful at calculating this because they have an aerial view and no obstructions. Ground units use radar, but that requires a clear shot of the vehicle.

It's a good reminder to watch your speed, and also realize that there may be an officer above you watching it for you. Heads up!
