The GoFundMe page has been circulating on social media since it was created. If you can't donate monetarily, sharing the page will also help, as the fundraiser will then reach a larger audience. A note on Shellby's GoFundMe page, which was organized by a close friend, says the following:

Last night my friend's and her entire family's world was turned upside down due to a random, senseless act. The family is now grieving the loss of their 22 year old daughter after she was tragically shot and killed at the Super 8 in Cloquet. Shellby Marie Trettel was just planning out her future, living life to the fullest, and most of all had a huge heart and cared deeply for all of those she knew.

The post ended by thanking everyone for their kindness. In an update shared Wednesday (January 10th), the organizer thanked the community for their support. The Cloquet Police Department also issued an update Wednesday, sharing more details about the shooting that took place on Monday night (January 8th).

Their latest report shares the name of the shooter, who was found outside the Super 8 with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. They also named the second victim, 35-year-old Patrick Jeffrey Roers from Deer River, who was found in his vehicle. Police have not given a motive for the shooting.

Shellby was 22-years-old and worked at the front desk of the Super 8. She was taken to St. Luke's Hospital and later died of her injuries. On her GoFundMe page, the Anchorage Wolverines Hockey team shared a sweet note with a large donation, saying they met her this past weekend and she made them all smile.
