The Salvation Army is struggling to meet its financial needs for Christmas this week. Last week's storm affected donations. Inflation has been tough on people's finances. These factors make it difficult for the Salvation Army to reach its Red Kettle Goal, its biggest fundraiser of the year.

The 2022 goal for the red kettles is $215,000. As of this morning, December 19, they've raised $123,493. That's over $90,000 short of their goal with just days left before Christmas.

Compared to last year, they are $30,000 behind their goal and $58,000 behind 2020.

How can you help out? They need bell ringers and gift wrappers. Sign up for a shift at registertoring.com or by calling 218-722-7934. They have 2, 4, or 6-hour shifts available—volunteer to wrap gifts for a donation at the gift wrapping booth in the Miller Hill Mall.

Organizations have been helping out in the final push. The 148th Fighter Wing dropped off a huge toy delivery today at the Salvation Army. Miner's Match is still going on through Christmas Eve, where Miners will match the donations made at their Super One Stores. Those stores also have a "Round Up At The Register Campaign" going on now. That's where people can round up by $1, $3, and $5 at the register to donate.

The Salvation Army also could use volunteers to help with distributing presents and serving lunches. You also can sign up online or call 218-722-7934.
