A popular Minnesota retailer has boosted its minimum wage for employees to $19.25. With 21 locations across Minnesota, it will affect workers across the entire state.

The current minimum wage in Minnesota set by the government is $10.85 an hour for large employers, and 8.85 an hour for small employers.

Still, with employers still having a hard time filling positions, most places are using above minimum wage to lure candidates. Other employers are working on retaining their employees as well.

Hobby Lobby Boosts Pay

Hobby Lobby just announced they have raised their minimum full-time hourly wage to $19.25. It went into effect on October 1, 2024.

The CEO David Green says in the press release that the pillar of their success is taking care of their employees. He takes pride in the fact that they close their store on Sundays for employees, and also close at 8 pm on other nights to allow time with families.

Green also says Hobby Lobby understands that inflation has negatively impacted all businesses, families, and individuals in the last several years. According to Green, Hobby Lobby has worked to keep their prices down and that has helped with continuous success.

What 19.25 adds up to in a year.

A worker who makes $19.25 per hour full-time would make $40,040 in a year. Hobby Lobby also says they are proud to offer medical benefits, matching 401k, sick time, employee discounts, and other perks to their employees.

Hobby Lobby has 21 locations in Minnesota including Austin, Baxter, Bemidji, Blaine, Bloomington, Burnsville, Coon Rapids, Duluth, Eagan, Mankato, Maple Grove, Maplewood, Marshall, Minnetonka, Rochester, Roseville, Virginia, Waite Park, West St. Paul, Willmar, and Woodbury.
