There are plenty of benefits to composting.  It helps improve soil structure, reduces the need for fertilizers, helps plants grow better, saves money, and helps reduce waste in general.

Compost is discussed a lot more during springtime and early summer than any other seasons as it's generally the time people are cleaning up their yards.  From grass clippings to brush, leaves, and even some dirt hanging out in the yard, you might need a home for it.

Luckily there are places to take those things for compost and one is in Duluth, Minnesota with WLSSD.  In Minnesota it's not legal to dump yard waste into your garbage and it's also not good for that to be mixed in at our landfills.

For a small fee, WLSSD will take a lot of your unwanted lawn and garden debris at their compost site located at 27th Avenue West and The Waterfront in Duluth.  They are even open expanded days through June 19th, so you have plenty of time to get what you need dropped there.

In addition to taking lawn debris, you can also purchase Green Garden Compost by the bag or by the yard.  You can also drop-off food waste which will be used for composting and again results in less waste going to the landfills.

So, get those yards and gardens cleaned up and take advantage of the extra days the WLSSD Yard Waste Compost Site is open in the month of June.  It's better for the environment and can benefit you too.
