9 Killed in Passenger Van-Semi Crash at Rural Central Wisconsin Intersection
Neillsville, WI (KROC-AM News)- Nine people lost their lives in a crash that occurred at a rural central Wisconsin intersection.
That’s according to a news release issued by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. A passenger van and semi truck and trailer were involved in the tragedy.
The deadly crash was reported shortly before 8 a.m. on Friday at the intersection of Hwy. 95 and Clark County Rd. J, which is about 50 miles southeast of Eau Claire.
The preliminary investigation indicates the semi was traveling east on Hwy. 95 and the van was heading north on the county road.
Authorities say the van, which was transporting nine people, entered the intersection and was struck by the semi.
Eight of the nine people in the van were killed, the news release says. The driver of the semi also died in the collision.
The coroner pronounced all nine of the fatal crash victims dead at the scene. Officials say the lone survivor in the van was taken to a hospital for further care.
Authorities say the names of the crash victims will be released pending family notification. The tragic crash remains under investigation.
