Kirk Cousins’ Offseason Plans Might Hint At His Next Career Move
Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is doing the same thing this offseason as his former team: Sitting at home while the NFL playoffs continue.
After his departure from Minnesota, Kirk Cousins found himself in the precarious spot of being replaced by the quarterback his new team drafted shortly after giving him a huge contract to lure him away from the Vikings.
Two years removed from their separation, both Kirk and the Vikings might have some regrets about where their paths have led.
Cousins ended up being replaced by Michael Penix Jr. in 2024 and most of 2025. Meanwhile, the Vikings had a solid 2024 season with stopgap Sam Darnold, but the 2025 season was painful at quarterback.

I heard lots of fans (who groaned about Kirk-o during his time in Minnesota) who were yearning for the days when he was here, wondering if the Falcons would be willing to part ways with Cousins to allow for a return to Minnesota.
Regardless of what is next for Kirk's playing career in the NFL, what he's up to during this year's postseason might be a glimpse into his future. Cousins is 37 years old, getting close to the end of his playing days.
Even if that is still a few years away, Cousins is probably thinking about what comes after playing.
It was announced this week that Kirk would be joining CBS's NFL Today TV broadcasts for the rest of the NFL playoffs this year, replacing the departing Matt Ryan as a guest analyst. Ryan is leaving CBS for a front office job with the Falcons, and it's kind of funny that a current Falcons quarterback will be completing that circuit.
This will be another try-out of sorts to see if a media career is the right fit for Cousins after he retires.
Aside from his experience in front of the camera during his appearance in the Netflix documentary series Quarterback, Kirk joined ESPN for playoff coverage one weekend last year.
This year, it'll be two weekends - for CBS's divisional round and AFC Championship coverage.

CBS will have the 3:30 pm game on Saturday, January 17, between the Bills and Broncos, and the AFC Championship on January 25. If you don't normally watch, CBS's NFL Today is usually an hour-long broadcast before the start of their games.
We'll see how Kirk does these next couple of weeks, and ultimately if it's the direction he decides to go once he eventually retires.
