Unidentified Shooter Kills Minnesota Family’s Dog In Cold Blood

This is really unsettling.

A Minnesota woman shared on social media that over the weekend, an unknown individual fatally shot one of her family's dogs on their property.

Alyssa DeBill, a woman who lives in the Mankato area, shared on social media over the weekend that one of her three dogs was the victim of an unidentified shooter on Saturday evening.

The dog, named Lily, was described by Alyssa as "the best dog in the world", saying "she gave the best kisses & snuggles".

Alyssa described the scene, explaining that after 6 pm on Saturday, March 30, Lily and the family's two other dogs were on the upper-level deck of their home when she says someone walked up their driveway and fatally shot Lily in the chest.

Alyssa says that she and at least one other neighbor in their neighborhood received notes on their doors in recent weeks that threatened to kill their dogs "if they bark again".

Alyssa and her fiance Preston live in the home with two children, who Alyssa say were inside the living room of their home, just a few feet away from where the dog was shot.

The Star Tribune reports a neighbor heard two gunshots and that an effort to gather surveillance video is underway with the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Department to try to identify the shooter.

The report from the Star Tribune says that the investigation from the sheriff's department suggests the shooter was likely in a nearby marshy ravine, roughly 40 feet away from the dog.

The family says they are absolutely heartbroken and devastated about the loss of their dog, shaken by the act that happened on the deck of their family home.

Alyssa and Preston have started a GoFundMe to "go toward her cremation, moving expenses, and any possible legal fees". In the post, they explain they are now looking to move after this frightening incident.
