Halloween season is in full swing and thankfully, it looks like most haunted attractions in our area are coming back this year! Some events are pulling the plug because of COVID-19 but some are opting to continue with guidelines.

We all know by now that the popular Haunted Ship is officially back this year! This is one of the most popular haunted attractions in the Twin Ports. Last year, they cancelled the event because of the pandemic. The event was also cancelled the few years prior because of a construction project.

The Haunted Ridge is also back this year! They announced news of their return back in April. They announced the news early so they could get the word out about needing volunteers. This is another very popular haunted attraction in the Northland.

The Haunted Forest will also spook you this Halloween season. The haunted attraction is back in action for their eighth year. The spot is located in Saginaw and proceeds benefit local charities in the area.

Now, another popular haunted attraction has also confirmed they are returning this year. That attraction? The Massacre On Hammond. Just the name will send shivers down your spine.

The attraction is located in Superior, Wisconsin. It differs from other haunted houses in that it is completely free and only open for a handful of days near the end of October. It is also a haunted house that takes place in a real house!

The spot is located at 1701 Hammond Avenue. Donations are accepted although the haunt is free to attend. The event goes from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. each night.

The dates that the haunt will be open are as follows:

  • Thursday, October 28th
  • Friday, October 29th
  • Saturday, October 30th
  • Sunday, October 31st

There will be a tamer version of the haunted attraction on Halloween, dubbed a "low scare" edition of the event. It will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. that afternoon.

Please note that this event is not recommended for people with heart conditions or people who are prone to seizures. Kids under thirteen years of age are asked to bring an adult with them.

If you really want to get into the Halloween spirit this year, you can take a little road trip to a few other attractions in Minnesota. Just a few hours from the Twin Ports is one of the scariest haunts. It is the Dead End Hayride and it is just about two hours from Duluth.

You can also take a little bit longer of a trek and head to ValleySCARE. The amusement park turns spooky during the month of October and hosts the event all month. This year, there are no bags allowed at the park but that won't stop you from getting scared.

If you really want to go all out, you can even ride a monster bus this month and shoot at zombies with a paintball gun like you are in an apocalypse. It is called the Zombie Rampage and would probably be a fun activity for those that love The Walking Dead show. Ha!
