A mechanic at a Midas Auto Shop in Shakopee is being hailed as a hero after he rescued a poor abandoned puppy that was cruelly zipped up into a hot backpack and thrown in a dumpster like trash.

The gentleman named R.J. heard some kind of knocking sound in the dumpster at the Midas store where he worked. At first, he thought it might be a raccoon, thankfully the dumpster had already been emptied. All he could see inside was a zipped-up backpack that contained a fake grill, some baggies, and this poor dog.

The backpack was moving but did not make a sound. R.J. said to FOX9 :

I opened it up and the dog literally like slowly lifted its head and looked up, and I didn’t even know what to say I just about started crying there.

R.J. decided to keep the dog and knew he would need a name to bring him to the vet so he decided on calling him Midas which seems pretty appropriate. Thankfully for Midas, he has found someone who will take good care of him and give him the love and attention he deserves.

A police report has been filed with the Shakopee Police Department, but as of yet, it is not known who dumped the dog. Sadly stories like this do happen and for whatever reason people that do these types of cruel acts obviously don't consider that these poor animals are living beings with emotions and feelings. For some people, they are in a desperate situation to rehome a pet, but obviously, this is NEVER the way to do it!

I know firsthand the responsibility of owning a pet and is something that needs to be taken very seriously. Adopting a pet is not a temporary thing, they need you to love and care for them for their entire lives. It is a lot of work and can be expensive as well. There are so many shelters that will gladly take an unwanted pet or go to a fire station or police station, anywhere but dumping them somewhere for them to perish. Thank You R.J. for your kindness and hopefully, you and Midas will have a long time together to enjoy each other's companionship.
