Congratulations going out to a of Minneapolis who was recently honored with an ESPY ( Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) Award. He is not only one amazing athlete, but an amazing young man as well.

Taquarius or "TQ" received the huge honor on Sunday night in a virtual ceremony of the ESPY Awards. According to KARE11 "the Mesabi Range College running back from north Minneapolis accepted the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance, named after legendary North Carolina State basketball coach Jim Valvano, who died after a valiant fight against cancer. "

This award is given annually to a person in the sporting world who has overcome great obstacles through perseverance and determination. Back in 2005 When Taquarius was just 4 years old he was caught in a house fire where he sustained burns over most of his body. He was given just a 20% of survival. He lost fingers on his left hand and underwent multiple surgeries and skin grafting.

Wair said it  KARE11  “My life became memorable when I found football," he recalls. "They put the ball in my hands and it was over from there," Taquarius said in a story that aired during the ESPYS.


To top off the honor of getting this award he was surprised by Shaquem Griffen a linebacker for the Seattle Seahawks who only has one hand. With his mother weeping Taquarius took the trophy out of the box saying he could not believe what was happening. Congratulations TQ you are an inspiration to us all and your future looks awfully bright!
