While out hunting last fall, a Minnesota man pleaded guilty and admitted to killing a nearby family's dog.

The unfortunate incident took place near the Twin Cities in New Germany, Minnesota. The 34 year-old man admitted to using a compound bow. The dog was a two year-old Great Pyrenees named Reba.

The family shared their story to Facebook about their live stock guardian and beloved family member:

My heart just breaks for Reba and this family. I grew up with dogs and am definitely a dog person. I grew up with a pup named Melody who was my bestfriend for 13 years. We named her melody as she was brindle in color, but had a white birth mark on the back of her neck in the shape of a music note.

According to Bring Me The News, the New Germany man admitted to shooting the dog with his compound bow, saying she had been chasing deer and "ruining his hunt". The man then left the scene of the crime after learning about another hunter near by. He was charged with a felony for mistreatment of animals, torture. If convicted, he could serve up to two years in prison and/or a fine of up to $5,000.

The man did apologize on Facebook and "offered to reimburse victim for the cost to replace the dog". Take it from a dog lover myself, nothing will place the love that Reba had for her family and the love her family had for her. My heart goes out to Reba's family.
