Oh boy this is going to open a can of worms with our neighbors to the East in Wisconsin, but for the 2nd year in a row, Minnesota has come out on top.

According to the Washington Post and a private survey conducted by  the Annie E. Casey Foundation the State of Minnesota ranks #1 as the best place for raising kids. It is based on 16 different  indicators for the well being of a child including things like: single parent families, low birth weight babies, school test scores, children living in poverty etc.

Minnesota has been moving up in the ranks over the years sitting in 6th place back in 2012 to number #1. This year Wisconsin is not too far behind at #13 and Iowa is in 3rd place.  Now of course all of this can be put into a matter of perspective, I grew up in Wisconsin and I had an awesome childhood, again it is all based on a lot of different objectives and data.

Of course I am biased about the Upper Midwest in general having grown up here and spent almost all my adult life in this area too. But, what a great acknowledgement towards the Teachers, Health Care Professionals, Social Workers and others that are all part of who help raise happy, healthy children.

So I say Is Minnesota an awesome place to grow up and raise your kids? You Betcha! Let me know what you think in the comments below.
