The Minnesota State Patrol recently posted a story of one of their troopers doing some good. On October 24, Trooper Ellissa Schmidt was patrolling Highway 28 in Ward Springs when she witnessed a cat on the road. Of course it has been a particularly cold October in the Midwest, and this little guy had to be freezing.

Ward Springs is just a few miles Northeast of Sauk Centre and is on Highway 28 that runs from Sauk Centre through Swanville in Central Minnesota. The region has been dealing with freezing temperatures well below average for this time of year.

Trooper Schmidt picked up the cat and brought him inside her car to warm him up. Turns out little "Leo" is a snuggler as the photos they shared show he isn't shy when it comes to the human touch.

Meet Leo.

Little Leo probably blew through a few of his nine lives sitting in the middle of Highway 28 in Ward Springs...

The story doesn't end there. Trooper Schmidt asked her social media followers if anyone wanted to adopt a kitten. As it would happen to be, Reese Wagman and her family were looking for a kitten to adopt. Leo is now in a happy loving, warm home. It's a nice end to the story. Nice work by Trooper Schmidt for going the extra mile for a furry little guy.

The state patrol also joked that Leo has probably used a couple of his nine lives. Either way this little kitten definitely was in the right place at the right time to be saved.
