The wait is over!

The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced this week the 8 winning names from a field of 50 finalists that were up for vote by the public over the last few weeks.

MNDOT shared their 50 finalists, trimmed down from over 7,300 submissions, at the end of January. They then opened the voting to make decisions on the top 8 names to be used for plow trucks across the state.

Each of Minnesota's 8 MNDOT districts was assigned one of the winning names.

I feel like the pool of 2024-2025 name finalists was among the best crop ever in the years MNDOT has been doing this contest. Some of my personal favorites like 867-530 Brine, Oh Snow You Didn’t!, Accumulus Removeus, Lady Slippery, and Plowin’ In The Wind didn't make the top 8, but some of them did do pretty well.

MNDOT shared a ranking of how each of the 50 names performed, which you can check out below. In the meantime, here are the 8 winning names and where those names will be used.
