Last year because of the pandemic many movie goers had to sit in their cars for what turned out to be 'Movies In The Parking Lot' at the DECC. But thankfully the annual Movies in the Park will be taking place back at it's original home of Leif Erikson Park.

I actually hate to admit this but when I first moved up here I used to go the Rose Garden all the time and chill and take pictures, but I never had any idea that in the lower part of the park was this beautiful bandshell and tons of space to enjoy. But I have to say when I first discovered it was when were all asked to meet down there for staff pictures for the radio station. My mind was blown.

Fast forward a few years and I had some kids in tow and we would try to go to as many movies in the park as we could. Throw down a few blankets, grab the cooler and bag of snacks and we were good to go. Of course typical kids when we got there all they cared about was the food, then running around until they were tired out then they would watch the movie. So go early and then the kids will actual sit still once the movie begins.

This year The Greater Downtown Council and Arrowhead Orthodontics is proud to present the line up for this years Movies In The Park. The movies begin at Sunset every Friday night through August and are free. A concession stand will be available as well. Here is the schedule below:

  • The Land Before Time (G) on July 9
  • Pitch Perfect (PG-13) on July 16
  • The Goonies (PG)  on July 23
  • The Wizard Of Oz on  July 30
  • Karate Kid  on August 6
  • The Outsiders (PG) on August 13
  • Grease (PG) on August 20
  • Tom & Jerry (PG) on August 27
