The new Mystic Lake Amphitheater being built in Shakopee is in its final stages of construction, which is good news considering the packed concert schedule already lined up for its first full season. That schedule just got even bigger with a new announcement made today.

A Lineup That Keeps Expanding in Minnesota

So far, the lineup has leaned heavily into rock, with major names like Iron Maiden and Guns N' Roses already locked in. The venue has also tapped into plenty of 90s and early 2000s nostalgia with bands like Goo Dolls and Train. Recently, though, Mystic Lake has started to widen the net, bringing pop into the mix with acts like Pitbull and now another major addition.

The latest addition to the year one lineup pulls straight from the mid to late 2000s R&B and hip hop era. One artist brings more than 15 Grammy nominations and three wins to the stage, while the other is known for hundreds of collaborations and an instantly recognizable “Konvict” sound that dominated radio during that era.

Ne-Yo and Akon Hit Minnesota

Ne-Yo and Akon will bring their “Night Like This Tour” to Minnesota at the new Mystic Lake Amphitheater on Wednesday, August 5. Presale for the show begins Thursday, January 29 at 10 AM, with the code 26MYSTIC available for early access.

The tour spans 57 cities worldwide and offers a unique format. Instead of traditional solo sets, the show is designed as a back and forth exchange of hits, which should make for a fast paced and nostalgia heavy night, especially considering how many recognizable songs are packed between the two artists.

A Soundtrack to the Late 2000s Comes To Minnesota

Together, Ne-Yo and Akon account for 26 Billboard Top 10 hits and were a defining part of pop radio between 2006 and 2008. Akon also made history as the first solo artist to hold the number one and number two spots on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time with “I Wanna Love You” featuring Snoop Dogg and “Smack That” featuring Eminem.

With construction nearly complete and more genres being added to the calendar, Mystic Lake Amphitheater is quickly shaping up to be one of Minnesota’s most talked about new concert venues.
