Wisconsin Brewery Named Among Best New Breweries in US
All too often lately, we have seen headlines about breweries and taprooms closing around Minnesota and Wisconsin. It has become a familiar trend across the region. Despite that unfortunate news, there is some good beer-related news worth raising a glass to.
Wisconsin is home to a new brewery that is already getting national attention and is now in the running for a spot on USA Today’s 10BEST list of new breweries.
A New Wisconsin Brewery Gets National Recognition
The question is simple enough: which new brewery is the best? USA Today assembled a panel of experts to nominate twenty new breweries from across the United States. One of those nominees happens to be a recently opened brewery in Milwaukee.

Lombardi Brewing Company announced plans to open its flagship brewery in May of last year. By September, the brewery and taproom were officially open to the public.
A Famous Wisconsin Name Behind the Beer
The brewery is co-owned by John Lombardi, the grandson of legendary Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi. John summed it up simply, saying one of his grandfathers was a football coach and the other owned a beer distributorship. Beer and football, he said, what could be more American than that?

The brewery’s lineup includes a Premium American Corn Lager called Lombardi Golden Lager, a malty Czech-style amber lager named Longarm, and a modern Citra pale ale called 31 Wedge.
USA Today praised Lombardi Brewing Company for celebrating Milwaukee’s long beer-brewing heritage, highlighting its focus on European-inspired ales and lagers.
How the Voting Works
Public voting for USA Today’s 10BEST new breweries is open now through Monday, February 23. The final rankings will be released on March 4.
At a time when many brewery headlines focus on closures, it is a welcome change to see a new Midwest brewery earning attention on a national level.
