Duluth is getting a new place to work out any hour, any day, plus some additional amenities like a shake shop and treatment rooms that will offer a variety of services.

The new space is actually part of an expansion for a fitness business that has offered personal training, and fitness classes for years in the Twin Ports, and the time has come for a major addition of a new 11,000 square-foot complex that should be open by the beginning of 2025.

Destination Fitness, located at 4966 Rice Lake Rd, just near the intersection of Martin Rd, is owned and operated by Julie and Mike Hendrickson, they have been doing personal training and classes for years in their current building, which is has just enough space for a large class and some rooms for personal sessions, so this expansion adds a lot more space for them to offer more fitness and wellness services.

The new building located right next to the old one, will feature a 3,600 square-foot 24/7 gym, a protein shake shop, a new large studio space for classes with high ceilings for their popular Aerial classes, locker rooms each with inferred saunas, and 6 private treatment rooms for services like massages and facials. They say the old building will also remain to offer classes and personal training.

Regular construction updates are happening on their Facebook page, as of their latest update, the exterior walls are up and the interior wall supports are up, it looks like a great space. I've had the chance to work with both Mike and Julie in the past, and I couldn't be more excited for them, their family and staff. And if you ever get a chance to play basketball with Mike, do it, he's not great and you'll probably beat him.
