Some schools are now spying on overweight students by making them wear a monitoring bracelet.

According to an article from the New York Post, the school district in Bay Shore, New York ordered 10 of the monitors for use starting this spring. The devices are worn on the wrists and count heartbeats, detect motion. They even track students' sleeping habits.

The devices are already in use in school districts in St. Louis and South Orange, New Jersey.

Some people say they are an invasion of the students' privacy.

What do you think?  Should it be up to the parent, or to the school to monitor a child's weight and physical activity?  Is this something you would allow your child to do, or would you speak out against it?
