With the exit of Vikings Offensive Coordinator Kevin Stefanski after the team's season came to an end, the Minnesota front office found themselves in need of a new person to head up the offensive side of team operations. It sounds like they didn't have to look too far.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Vikings will keep things in-house, making offensive advisor and assistant coach Gary Kubiak the new offensive coordinator. Sources tell Rapoport that while he has only been with the team one season, his "impact was felt quickly" and now he'll reportedly be sliding into a new role.

Kubiak joined the Vikings in 2019 as an assistant head coach and offensive advisor after taking a leave from coaching due to some health concerns during his time as the Denver Broncos head coach.

The Vikings are still looking to find a new defensive coordinator after the team parted ways with George Edwards. While Mike Zimmer has called defensive plays, it is still necessary to fill that role. Some speculate his son Adam, who is currently the linebackers coach, may be a candidate for the role. The team is looking to reload for the 2020 season, which is the last year in both Mike Zimmer and Kirk Cousins's contracts. Neither have been offered an extension yet, but that doesn't mean it couldn't happen yet this offseason.
