Wisconsin-based retailer Shopko announced Monday that all remaining stores will close this year. This news follows the company's bankruptcy declaration back in January of 2019.

Stores around the region being impacted include Duluth, Two Harbors, Moose Lake, Ely, Aitkin, Spooner, and Mora. In the press release from the company, a liquidation sale will begin soon, and is expected to wrap up in about 10-12 weeks, which means all stores around the country are expected to be closed by the end of June.

CEO Russ Steinhorst shared the following in the release:

"This is not the outcome that we had hoped for when we started our restructuring efforts. We want to thank all of our teammates for their hard work and dedication during their time at Shopko."

I personally am a huge fan of Shopko they have a great selection of items at really good prices and it is usually a quick in and out of the store.  In January, the Wisconsin-based retailer, announced that they were filing for bankruptcy but continued to keep many stores open across the country, until now. All the stores are expected to be closed June 16. For many smaller towns this is a big hit to the economy, job loss and a place to shop in their town which makes for a very unfortunate situation.
