It was a Duluth landmark for many years, propped near the shore of Canal Park in the icy lake, until one fateful day, it sunk.

This is known to locals as the Ice House and a giant pillar sheared off and sunk into about 9 feet of water.  According to City Pages the St. Louis County Rescue squad used one of their three submarine drones to get the underwater footage. Captain Rick Slatten from the Rescue Squad said it is going to be a navigation nightmare for boaters in the future, and also expressed concern that kids will continue to play on it out in the lake.

It is thought that the pillar collapsed around November 7'th, 2014.
