St. Patrick’s Day DWI in Minnesota Up 28% Over Last Year
The Minnesota State Patrol had extra enforcement out over St. Patrick's Day weekend and they were kept busy.
The State Patrol reports that 424 DWI arrests were made between Friday night and early Monday morning, that compares to 331 made during the same time last year, that is a 28% increase.
According to the Star Tribune, the average non-holiday weekend will see about 285 DWI arrest.
The fact the St. Patrick's Day fell on a Saturday this year certainly helped with the increase, but with so many options for a sober ride these days, it's surprising to me that so many people are still taking the chance and dring impaired.
