Target Stores To Require Masks For Customers Starting In August

Target is the latest major company to require face masks for customers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The store announced the news on Thursday (July 16th), stating that the new policy would go into effect on August 1st.

According to USA Today, the new policy will have a few exceptions, including those with medical conditions and young kids. They also report that face masks will be given to those customers who do not have one upon arrival at the store.

There is a Target store in Duluth, which is located at 1902 Miller Trunk Highway. However, this won't have a big impact on customers headed there any time soon as the City of Duluth recently passed a citywide face mask ordinance, requiring one in most public places.

There are a bunch of other Target locations across the Northland in which customers will be impacted. Locations impacted nearby include one in Virginia and Grand Rapids, among others.

This comes after several other big name retailers announced similar policies. On Wednesday (July 15th), Walmart and Sam's Club stores announced that they would be requiring all customers to wear face masks countrywide soon. Best Buy also announced this week that they would also be requiring customers to wear face masks effective immediately.

Target stores have remained open throughout the pandemic, implementing new guidelines and policies as the pandemic continued. In early April, they began limiting the number of customers they had in store. Now, they are taking things one step further.
