One of the most anticipated characters in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War is the new teenage Groot, whom we saw a glimpse of in one of the hilarious post-credits scenes from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The era of Baby Groot is over, and Teen Groot is upon us. And he’ll be played by accomplished motion-capture star Terry Notary.

You might recognize Notary’s name, though not his face, from the most recent two Planet of the Apes films, in which he played Caesar’s loyal chimpanzee friend Rocket. He recently confirmed to Yahoo Movies that he would indeed be portraying teenage Groot through motion-capture in Avengers: Infinity War, and possibly its sequel.

Yes, I am playing teenage Groot. I’m having a blast with it. It’s really, really fun. I can’t say too much about him, but he’s coming of age, so you’ll see the teenager find a mentor to look up to and to model himself after. The character’s great, and the films are going to be great. We’ve got such an amazing cast and a great pair of directors at the helm. The Russos allow the actors to jam on scenes together to the point where it just feels great and everybody gets their moments.

Who could this “mentor” be? Maybe… the Hulk? The two are certainly comparable in size, and probably also in rage. Notary can next be seen in The Square, during which he terrifies people at a dinner party by acting like an ape.

Avengers: Infinity War’s confirmed cast includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olson, Jeremy Renner, [takes a breath] Chadwick Boseman, Sebastian Stan, Don Cheadle, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Pom Klementieff, [takes a deeper breath] Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Sean Gunn, Tom Holland, Josh Brolin, and Paul Rudd. The movie hits theaters May 4, 2018.
