You now have another option to call 911 in an emergency Text-to-911.

Using the tagline "Call if you can, text if you can't." the service rolls out today statewide. According to officials, "Once deployed, individuals who are deaf, deafblind, hard of hearing or speech impaired may use Text-to-911 as a first contact option."

To use the service, you must type 911 into the number field, and then type what your emergency is into the body of the text message and send. 911 dispatchers have been extensively trained and have tested this new system.
