Taboo, will.i.am, and apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas (not sure where Fergie is) unleashed a video for the group's new song "Yesterday" online and it is awesome! For anyone that knows the roots of hip hop music, this song is like one big time trip; and the video pays tribute to the artists that built the genre and the album artwork that became so iconic over time.

If you're looking for something totally new and original, this isn't really it (more on that after the video). There isn't really much in the way of original music or lyrics with this song, but the way they wove together all the different songs is amazing. Sit back, relax, and see how many different songs and albums you can catch references to in this song.

Apparently Erykah Badu was paying attention, commenting on the concept for the video and how similar it is to her 2008 video for "Honey". So, with the video's concept being lifted from Badu and most of the lyrics/music being lifted from older songs, there is definitely very little that's original about this piece. I still think it's a cool throwback to the golden age of hip hop, when sampling was all the rage anyway.
