The Green Bay Packers Helped Purchase Body Cameras For The Local Police Department
Congratulations to the Green Bay Packers the 2020 NFC North Division Champs and also Aaron Rogers is rumored to be up for MVP again this year, it is a good year to be a Packer fan if nothing else. And the Green Bay Packer team has also extended a generous gift to the local police department in the form of body cameras.
The Green Bay Packers have teamed up with Axon a company that supplies Police departments with equipment. This donation from the Packers is all part of their pledge to support social justice and racial equity in Wisconsin.
According to Police1.com the team made quite the purchase with 190 body cameras, 45 in car cameras and 150 Taser devices along with support service for the next five years. With so much contention in many communities between the police and their citizens, it is nice to see a positive story like this that may encourage other teams to do the same.
Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy said:
As an organization, we are committed to using our platform and providing resources to help achieve racial equity and social justice. In conversations with our players, community partners and elected officials, we determined that supporting this purchase would complement our many other efforts to address injustices in our communities of color. The cameras will also help the police perform their duties more effectively and benefit the local community. We are proud to be working with Green Bay and Axon to bring this technology to our city in order to enhance public safety and affect meaningful change.
In my opinion all police officers should have body cameras for themselves and for the people they come in contact with. I am pretty sure the citizens of Green Bay are appreciative of this donation, knowing this will hopefully help justice be served to everyone in the community.
