OK, all I can say is damn!  The Mega Millions lottery jackpot grew this afternoon to $640 million, now that is exciting.  I never play the lottery, but how can you ignore a chance to win a world record lottery jackpot? The answer is, you can't, so I walked next store to the BP station on Arlington and Central Entrance and bought $5 worth.

If one ticket matches all 6 numbers for the well over half-billion dollar mega-jackpot, the winner would have the choice of receiving the full jackpot in 26 annual payments of about $24.6 million, or a cash option of approximately $462 million.

This jackpot has been growing since January 24, when Mega Millions had its most recent jackpot winner. The jackpot has now rolled 18 times without a winner. The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately one in 176 million. The odds of winning any of the Mega Millions prizes are approximately 1 in 40.

We bought one ticket here at the station as a staff and are giving you a chance to win some of that money if it's a winner, check it out here.
