One of my absolute favorite Minnesota-based companies called 'Love Your Melon' has been sold to a company out of New York. What makes this company so special is the back story of how it started and all they have done for charitable organizations.

The company started back in 2012 by two students who were attending the College Of St. Thomas in St Paul Minnesota who were working together in an entrepreneurship class. The company gave 50% of its net profits to nonprofit organizations that work to fight childhood cancer. For every beanie hat that was purchased they would donate a beanie to a child battling cancer and to this day 235,000 beanies were given to kids battling cancer.

So why beanies? Because the children undergoing cancer treatments would lose their hair and the beanies help them to stay warm and help them not feel so self-conscious from their hair loss. In the past few years, the company has expanded its clothing line to include apparel, home goods, and more.

The new company is called Win Brand Groups out of New York.  Zachary Quinn, who is the co-founder and co-CEO of Love Your Melon said In A News Release:

Now, as part of Win, we're equipped with the tools we need to grow faster than ever before by accessing new markets, diversifying our product offering, and expanding our retail footprint.  We believe we have found the best partner to lead this brand and its mission into the next chapter.

Hopefully, the jobs that manufacture the 'Love Your Melon' products stay in Minnesota and they continue their mission to help children all over the country and provide a little bit of comfort to these kids and their families.  For more on this story go to Bring Me The News.
