It seems like an endless barrage of road closing announcements are made this time of year in the Northland, so it's not surprising that two such announcements will be added to the list.

The City of Duluth has announced that two separate projects will briefly close portions of city streets on Monday and Tuesday.

On Monday, June 8, a portion of North Third Avenue West between West First and West Second Street will close temporarily due to a contractor working on the Board of Trade Building.  The closure is expected to take place from 6:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., during which time the sidewalk on the west side of the street will also be closed.  Detours will be clearly marked for both pedestrians and vehicular traffic.

On Tuesday, June 9, a second project will close a portion of West 1st Street, in front of the Centurylink Building, to allow a contractor to use a crane to remove and replace an underground transformer feeding power to the area.

Between 6:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., the east half of the block will have two-way traffic to allow access to the buildings. Lane markings will be delineated as appropriate.  Not only will this portion of the street be closed, but the sidewalk in front of Centurylink will also be closed.  Pedestrians will have access to the sidewalk on the other side of the street.

If you're in these areas during scheduled closure times, please be on the lookout for detour signs and plan on slow travel.
