View from the Sidelines: Vikings Defeat Chargers 31-14 [PHOTOS]
Temperatures soared to near 80, making things feel much more summerlike than you'd expect for a late September day as the Minnesota Vikings played host for the San Diego Chargers and things definitely heated up on the field. Plenty of storylines were discussed by fans and the media prior to this game, including the first meeting of Kenosha, WI natives Trae Waynes and Melvin Gordon in an NFL game, Norv Turner calling the offense against a team he once coached, and Adrian Peterson looking to recapture some of the record-setting magic he had against the Chargers in 2007.
Peterson didn't have a repeat performance of the 296 yards he ran for in 2007, but he did put down 126 yards and 2 touchdowns. The scores broke a drought that has been in place since November of 2013. The defense stood tall against Philip Rivers and the Chargers offense, and the team got a strong 31-14 win to go to 2-1 on the season. The Vikings did notably lose Xavier Rhodes to injury in the game, but rookie Trae Waynes stepped in and had a solid performance in his place.
