Rodgers to the Vikings? An Insider Says Don’t Rule It Out
The Minnesota Vikings did not have the season they were hoping for, and the fallout has already reshaped the organization. The team moved on from general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and is now searching for his replacement ahead of next season.
Until that hire is made, the Vikings are operating in a holding pattern with major decisions looming. With the NFL Draft approaching quickly, the franchise does not have the luxury of time to sit still.

Minnesota Front Office Reset Before the Draft
In the interim, Vikings Executive Vice President of Football Operations Rob Brzezinski will take over GM duties through the draft process. His role will be to keep the roster plan steady while setting the table for whoever ultimately takes the job long term.
This approach gives Minnesota some short-term stability, but it also places enormous pressure on the next few months. Draft choices and roster decisions made now will shape the team well beyond the 2026 season.

The Quarterback Question Looms Large
One of the biggest questions facing the Vikings is who will start at quarterback next season. Minnesota made a major gamble by committing to J.J. McCarthy while letting Sam Darnold walk to the Seattle Seahawks, a decision that continues to draw scrutiny.
Much of the speculation surrounding Adofo-Mensah’s dismissal centers on that quarterback strategy, particularly the internal debate over how aggressively the team should pursue a proven veteran option.
Reports suggest there may have been a philosophical divide between the front office and head coach Kevin O’Connell regarding the quarterback plan. According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, O’Connell strongly preferred pairing McCarthy with an accomplished veteran.
Florio noted that someone like Aaron Rodgers, who ultimately signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers and reached the playoffs, fit the profile Minnesota may have wanted but never secured.
Could Minnesota Revisit a Veteran QB?
With O’Connell now holding significant influence over roster decisions until a new GM is hired, speculation is growing that the Vikings could still explore adding a veteran presence. Rodgers, now 42, has been floated as a potential option to compete for the starting role while also mentoring McCarthy.
In a recent interview, Florio said Rodgers remains available and that Minnesota could make sense as a landing spot given the limited alternatives around the league.
The Vikings still have time to chart their next move, but the clock is ticking. With the draft fast approaching, decisions at quarterback and across the roster will soon shift from speculation to reality.
