Washington School District Says Swings Are Too Dangerous, Removes Them From Playgrounds
A long-time staple on playgrounds around the world is now being called "too dangerous" by a school district in Washington. Elementary schools in Richland, Washington are removing swing sets following pressure from insurance companies that are saying swing sets are a liability for injuries.
The report from KEPR-TV says the schools are removing swing sets as a part of renovation plans for the district's playgrounds. The report states that those on the swings aren't necessarily the ones at greatest risk. Most recorded swing set-related injuries happen to children walking in front or behind a moving swing.
