Another unique feature of Cousins Subs is its deep-fried menu items, something you don’t typically find at a sub shop. After all, what would a Wisconsin fast food restaurant be without deep-fried cheese curds? Along with the curds, Cousins also serves regular fries, cheese fries, and chili cheese fries.

Founded in 1972 by cousins Bill Specht and Jim Sheppard, the chain was created to bring East Coast-style subs to the Midwest. They opened their first store in Milwaukee, and the rest is history.
